Compensation:

  • Base Salary: $75,000 – $85,000 per year
  • Bonus Opportunities: Up to $10,000 annually based on performance

Your Role as Purchasing Manager:

As the Purchasing Manager, you will oversee all product sourcing, vendor relationships, and procurement strategies for the entire company, including the lounge, retail dispensary, and administrative supplies. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring the highest quality products and supplies while negotiating favorable terms with brand partners. Success in this role means driving financial growth, ensuring smooth inventory operations, and building mutually beneficial partnerships that enhance the Sessions by the Bay experience.

What You’ll Do:

  • Build Strong Vendor Relationships: Cultivate strong partnerships with vendors, securing quality products at competitive rates. Negotiate sponsorship opportunities and brand placements that align with both company and vendor goals.
  • Optimize Procurement & Inventory: Manage sourcing for all product lines, including house brands, ensuring regulatory compliance and operational efficiency. Collaborate with retail teams to ensure stock levels align with sales forecasts and customer demand.
  • Leverage Data for Success: Use data systems such as Headset, BDS Analytics, and Treez to track performance and adjust procurement strategies to maximize revenue and profitability.
  • Negotiate Sponsorships & Brand Placements: Work closely with the marketing director to secure sponsorships for monetization opportunities, such as events and brand placements in the lounge, immersive spaces, retail floor, and digital platforms.
  • Drive KPIs: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to purchasing efficiency, vendor relationships, product performance, and profitability, continuously striving to exceed targets.
  • Compliance & Quality Control: Ensure all products meet quality standards and comply with state regulations, particularly in the cannabis industry.
  • Collaborate Across Departments: Work with marketing, retail, lounge, and administrative teams to align purchasing strategies with broader company goals, driving both customer satisfaction and financial success.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Industry Knowledge: Exceptional familiarity with cannabis strains, genetics, cultivation, manufacturing techniques, and industry practices. If experience is not directly in cannabis, candidates must demonstrate deep knowledge and passion for the industry.
  • Vendor & Brand Partnership Expertise: Proven experience in vendor management, negotiation, and securing brand sponsorships that provide mutual value.
  • Data-Driven Mindset: Ability to use data programs and dashboards like Headset, BDS Analytics, and Treez to make informed decisions and optimize performance.
  • Goal-Oriented: A strong focus on KPIs, with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding targets in procurement or purchasing roles.
  • Collaborative Leader: Ability to build relationships both internally and externally, working closely with team members to ensure alignment with company goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably within the cannabis industry. If not, demonstrated strong knowledge of cannabis products and industry trends.
  • Proficiency in data analytics tools (Headset, BDS Analytics, Treez, etc.) and inventory management systems.
  • Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to secure beneficial contracts and partnerships.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Base salary: $75,000 – $85,000 per year, depending on experience
